Embed Travelwise content in your blog or website

As an extension to the facilities provided at http://nottinghamtravelwise.org.uk/, we are now trialing an embedded version of the live data map. Whilst this is provided without warranty, this project will be supported when time allows, and a developer will be on hand to deal with queries (using the form below right).

What you'll get

Example - showing Congestion, Parking, NET, Parksmart zones and current highways Agency roadworks

The data map bears a strong resemblance to the Nottingham Travelwise live data map, using similar markers and stylistic cues; it is however colour-neutralised to fit in with your site, and certain functions have been removed for performance gain.

Technical requirements

Since the map runs inside an inline frame, it is completely self-contained. All requests to the Google map backend will be made from nottinghamtravelwise.org.uk and handled by us. The Google system is inherently javascript-heavy; this embedded version has however been optimised for faster download and quicker performance - you may wish to consider if this will coexist well with existing scripts on your site.

This additional service will naturally have a longer development cycle than the main Travelwise site - and additional content may well be added. If you wish to be kept abreast of new deve, opments, and potential upgrades to the embedded service, I suggest you subscribe to the Site News RSS feed.

How big is it?

The map will fill the width of your <iframe> element, and size is unlimited. The size of info-windows has been optimised for a width of around 350 pixels or wider, however adding or removing certain elements will affect the size of map you will need to use.

What elements can I show?

Virtually anything which is visible on Nottingham Travelwise. Whilst the site is optimised for incident and congestion reporting in Nottinghamshire, it is entirely feasible you could use this as an interface to the Traffic England Highways Agency data.

The layers available to you are as follows:

In addition, there is a 'key' element, which opens to a popup window, explaining the significance of each of the markers you have selected on your map.
