5/9/08, 10:01 - Canning Circus and Western Gateway works
There are to be for 12 weeks - until November 2008 - major works at Canning Circus. As part of the package of improvements being carried out on the western side of the city centre, this will involve temporary traffic signals and lane closures where necessary. This has been causing delays of up to 15 minutes at weekday morning peak times, 7.30 - 9AM.
Please bear this in mind when planning your commute, and if possible, take an alternate route.
Nottingham City Council have details on the project here: Continued improvements at Canning Circus.
29/7/08, 12:03 - Trent Suspension Bridge Closure
The Wilford suspension bridge, linking Welbeck Rd. with Victoria Embankment has been subject to an emergency closure on safety grounds; cyclists and walkers are advised to use either Toll Bridge or Trent Bridge. Severn Trent Water are scheduled to make the bridge structurally sound once again in the near future.
31/3/08, 09:27 - Parliament Street Road Bridge Repair
The current structure which is over 100 years old is in need of major repair works. To repair the bridge, Parliament Street will need to be dug up and a new decking put in place. Once the decking is complete a damp proof membrane will be installed and then the road will be reinstated. Whilst this work is going on, the steel work underneath Parliament Street will be repaired and repainted from the Victoria Centre car park.

To enable the works to be carried out a number of bus stops will have to be relocated from the area outside of Boots and Peacocks on Parliament Street to other areas (the changes will be shown on each stop by NCT directly and leaflets etc will be available on each affected service). The current Zebra crossing will also have to be removed and pedestrians will be directed to use the crossing at Clumber Street.

Nottingham City Transport have published a comprehensive list of all affected bus routes.

The works will start on Sunday 30th March 2008 and will be completed by 20th November 2008, and will be carried out by Danahar and Walsh. The Consultants looking after the scheme are Workman. These works will be completed in 5 phases with two-way traffic maintained by realigning the road; pedestrian routes will be provided at all times, and access will be maintained to all the shops and frontages.
